Kit for sale now- www.berezintechnologies.com blog — http (more info) DIY vertical wind turbine of the Savonius style. Notable is that the largest part of this turbine is recycled materials (the PVC drums previously held Balsamic Vinegar from Italy and the generator is a recycled automotive alternator with magnets added). Axle: 3 inch PVC piping from Home Depot Bearings: 5 inch lazy suzan from Lowes. Part 3 will cover connection to the battery bank with charge controller www.berezin.com (My Blog with more info and photos on this and will contain DXF drawings of the gears and other components which can be made manually or with CNC)

you can add a 2nd generator to? the top and create double the power.
Above the hill, at? the Cloverdale exit on highway 101 in Calofornia a guy had one with 8 or 10 half barells. They were painted different coloes and looked cool.
They are getting cheap around $1200.00 I? hear. But why a noisy, energy supressing gear ? Why not a couple of pulleys and belts ?

Which make and model is? that CNC?
do you have to? use an alternator? or could you use a permanent magnet generator/motor?
That cnc machine just took away the D.I.Y. for a lot of people. It does look cool though.?
Hey could you add? another alternater to that using the gear system you have?
How can you utilize? the electricity produced by the turbine?
how about a bike chain and cogs? I am sure that with a lot of grease it wouldn’t rust, otherwise they can be bought in stainless. Also as others have alluded to alternators with their design are not conductive to making any useable power below a certain amount of revs. Although they have their own issues D.C motors with a solar panel? rectifier is the easiest. However I think using an RC aeroplane motor, rectifier and reg is the way to go
Measuring 12 Volts “Open Circuit” means nothing without simultaneously measuring the AMPS, too. 12 Volts x 0 Amps = 0 watts. Big Deal ! That PMA needs to spin faster than 900 RPM. And maybe, even 1,200 RPM to make usefull watts. Connect the PMA to a? 12 Volt battery and then measure Volts and Amps simultaneously to report Watts produced.

(Part 3)2) Propeller type are NOT as effiencent as verticial turbines as they have to tun in to the wind there for loosing power and you have to get a slip joint to stop the wires from twisting were as a vertical turbine does NOT need to turn in to wind or need a slip joint there for are cheaper to build and alot more efficent.Excuse the spelling mistakes
As for bearings I would personaly use something like (search ebay) Bearing 4 Bolt Flange Normal Duty but heavy? duty version if there is one

You will get more power if turbine is geared in some way. I will be using (search ebay for ) Murray 341234 Lawn Tractor Drive Pulley . . small pulley on motor/ generator and big pully attached to turbine blade axis and its a vey cheap way of doing it if you know? some one with a lathe that you can use.
I dont normally sign in and make comments and before any one says anything no i have never built or used a wind turbine but there cant be many? you tube videos I havent seen about green power generation
Forphuksake belts slip after a while and would cost more in long run for embeddedprogrammer as they can make there own gears very cheaply.

you need alot more rpms for this ,, make a propeller type? and direct drive and you will get more out of it

I don’t see how this is inexpensive. Your automated cutting machine alone makes? this an expensive project
