how about a PMA, but need about 400 rpm out? of it to get
the way you built it replacing one pedal with the plate bearing the blades is freaking ingenious. Awesome idea you just gave? me another piece of imagination. Thanks for posting great job. By the way i have seen a video where dudes place a small electric motor on the wheel of the bycicle, just like a dynamo, it can create 10V 10 A(max of course) with a very basic small toy electric motor. Good luck in the future
I’d be curious how much more torque you would get with the Octagon, versus the square design… seems like with the bicycle gearing you might want more torque. Anyway, nice design, and BTW placing stationary external blades will definitely improve your speed by reducing the drag on the opposing blades… See my You-Tube site “ICPolyman” check out my VAWT – version #1 and version #2 where you can use the stationary blades to? your advantage.
Thank you for the comment. I actually? discuss the board again in my next video on the subject. I can’t wait to see your interpretation and improvement on it.
I think what that board is doing is pushing the wind into the vawt. If you have a set of 4 boards(foils) that you set vertically on an outside dameter that can rotate with the wind, that should? optimize the wind pressure getting to the vawt. I’m thinking you could go lighter and faster if you used a flat garbage can lid instead of wood and go vertically with another layer or two with buckets, at least that’s the idea I want to try after watching your video.
Interesting video. Just checked out your? blog and I love it.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks! not a bad idea for the mount. How do you propose that I attach it to the bike frame? I’m not a welder. I’m thinking of a clamp? with a butterfly nut or quick release, like what they use for a bicycle repair stand, only adjusted to accommodate a horizontal pipe.
schedual 40 pipe in cement in old tire as a base. Nice work, keep perfecting it. I think your on to a really good idea. Nice windy area, make a lot of free? power! Don’t let the neighbors or wife discourage you.
